I’m one click
away from alarming news. Military strikes, chemical attacks, political debates,
casualties and conflicts plague the world. Another click and I silence the alarm.
Off goes the TV, radio or internet. I resume life, unharmed and safe.
Spiritual
battles, however, can’t be so easily silenced. We read that the devil “went off
to make war against…those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony
of Jesus” (Rev. 12:17). Scripture describes a “beast” who “was given power to
make war against the saints and to conquer them” (Rev. 13:5-7). Satan hunts. He intentionally schemes to “steal, kill and
destroy” us. (John 10:10) Strong and cunning, he’s relentless. (1 Peter 5:8)
Every believer
is in “spiritual warfare” against the world, the flesh and the devil. Winning
daily battles takes serious commitment, spiritual knowledge and tough
obedience.
